Round II---Back in the Game....

Hi e'one....and thanks for your concern....I missed Centennial so much I just HAD to go back...I just wanted another visit from Eloise and Pam (which I got...nice....:)....).

Seriously, I am home--I got an infection which caused me to feel horrible, not get enough fluids, dry heave, etc. (love the TMI on the Board, eh?)....it started Friday night but I just wrote it off to part of recovery....it got worse & worse until I would gag/dry heave if I even smelled water!  In fact, trying to drink plain bottled water I swore my hubby had put some Unjury in it b/c it seemed so thick and smelled terrible....it was just my reaction.  I went from 74gm protein & 78oz water the first day I was home to no protein staying down (would just vomit it back up immediately) and then, not being able to drink any clear liquid b/c it would come right back up. By Monday, I hadn't had 20oz of fluid in a day or so and forget any pain meds or anything else for two+ days.

So, Dr. Houston had me go to the ER--they evaluated me & did blood/urine tests & admitted me back to the 3rd floor at the Women's Hospital.  Everything got better from there!!!

The source of my nausea was an infection, which was treated w/antibiotics--there were Ketones in my urine (per the nurse, dehydration), so I was on fluids and pain meds...which, after getting hydrated, I was able to tolerate well.  I had some other Rx and felt better by this morning....but, whew---Sunday & yesterday were rough (and I swear I'm not a whimp!!)  The nurses were so great for my readmission....Irene and Kelly were FANTASTIC and I just loved both of them!!!  They taught me lots of new tricks (now I can stand on my head & juggle...lol) for hiding crushed pills (love the semi-melted frozen popsicle--and just taking the whole crushed pill in one bite instead of stirring it up & taking multiple bites like before).....okay...that I CAN do!

I feel 100% better w/the infection cleared up.  Dr. Houston advanced me to Stage 2, so I was able to have a shake when I came home today---it was nice!  I liked it. Dr. Houston's philosophy differs slightly from Dr. Olsten's in that Dr. H believes that you should try to get your protein in first & good things will follow; Dr. O believes that no matter what, get your 64oz minimum of water.  Either way, I am doing both, so I should be good to go.

So, thanks to e'one for your well-wishes!!!!! I am so happy to be back home w/my hubby, feeling great & able to hug & play with my three little ones .......ahhhh....Heaven.  xo, Micheala.

Yaaaay!  She's home and back to typing!!!

Okay, I'm going to have to get a demonstration on the semi-melted popsicle thing.  I take a lotta meds and am going to be getting a great upper body workout crushing pills.  The thought of choking all of 'em down in pudding or sauce or whatever, doesn't sound fun.  If the popsicle method works for you, it definitely sounds worth trying!!!

Glad you're feeling better and you're home where it's comfy!

HUGS!!!
